  • ❓ Where would you like to hike in Switzerland?

Hi, Reader!

If you're wearing clean sneakers and nice clothes from dinner, or you have limited mobility, here are a handful of casual strolls:

  • Lauterbrunnen Valley (paved, flat)
  • Montreux promenade (next to the lake)
  • Bürgenstock Felsenweg
  • Along the cobblestone streets of Old Town
  • Anywhere along a lake or river! Usually the waterfront promenade paths are flat, and paved or fine gravel. Our favorites are Lungernsee, Rotsee (Lucerne), or in Montreux.

If you'd rather lace up your hiking boots or trail shoes, here are blogs and videos about the best hikes — less than 2 hours each! (Obviously there are miles of trails, but these are the ones we think most tourists will enjoy on their first trip.)

And if you're on the hunt for more intense trails, consider an overnight hike to Obersteinberg or touch the Matterhorn!

Where we're hiking this Summer

Brett is training for the Jungfrau Marathon in September so his hiking bucket list is a bit shorter than usual this Summer. But he's already climbed a few trails between Lauterbrunnen and Eigergletscher (along the race route).

And Jana's trails mainly include a playground and a 1–2 hour hike (while Little Aplin sleeps):

  • Holenstein (Grindelwald) to Brandegg (We just hiked this one last week!)
  • Spiez wine trail (and a visit to the ship-themed playground)
  • Grindelwald First to Grosse Scheidegg
  • Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg
  • Mürren to Rotstock Hut

Most hiking trails in Switzerland are maintained by local and national organizations, such as the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) and the Swiss Hiking Federation.

They work together to maintain the paths, trail signs, and info.
