"I'm visiting Zermatt. Where can I see the Matterhorn?!"

We get asked that question a lot.

(Maybe you were curious about the answer too, Reader?!)

Here's the simple answer: From almost anywhere!

👉The bridges along the river are the easiest places to spot this magnificent peak from town.

👉But you can also see the Matterhorn from Gornergrat and Sunnegga.

👉And the 5 Lakes Trail.

👉And of course Matterhorn Glacier Paradise.

...Or you could follow in Brett's footsteps (literally) and TOUCH THE BASE OF THE MATTERHORN.

Here's how he did it — and you can too.

Hike to the Hörnli Hut

Disclaimer

Maybe we don't need this disclaimer, but it makes us feel better to write it just in case. 🤓

This trail is only for experienced hikers. It is not for anyone afraid of heights. It is not for individuals who struggle with elevation.

Wondering if you should try this trail?

We wondered the same thing.

And we had a hard time finding videos or pictures that detailed the route. We wanted to see the trail to decide if we could safely hike it.

➡️ So that's why we made this video. As a thorough, detailed, descriptive look at this popular hike. Watch it here.

(Even if you don't wanna hike it, how epic is it that Brett TOUCHED THE BASE OF THE MATTERHORN?!)

Matterhorn Facts

📸The Matterhorn is the most photographed mountain in the world.

🪨The tip of the Matterhorn is technically rock from Africa (before the tectonic plates collided)

🗓️It was first summited in 1865.

🥾Today, more than 3000 climbers summit each year.

😥Unfortunately, approximately 500 climbers have died on the Matterhorn, making it one of the world's most dangerous mountains.

🚁There are roughly 30 rescue missions per year on the Matterhorn.

🏃‍♂️The fastest ascent was from someone who ran from the village church to the peak of the Matterhorn and back down to the church in less than 4 hours!

DRINKING: This is our favorite tea to sip on in the Fall.

GOING: We've been finding new experiences as parents, like a baby music group and a kinder gymnastics class and kids story time. (All in German of course, so we get a language lesson while talking with the teachers and other parents, haha!)

PLANNING: Adding all of the Fall events to our calendar...more details about those in next week's email!
