Where we've been this FallReader, did you know that we take so many adventures that don't make it onto YouTube? So we've started sharing them with you in our emails! Grimsel Pass and OberaarseeOur "Swiss family" took us here to see the completed dam. It was really neat to see its construction and the lake behind it (which used to be a glacier). But it was a bonus treat to ride the self-service gondolas to the Oberaarsee! BussalpThis has been on our list for a long time because it's just above Grindelwald. Brett hiked here from Grindelwald First (stunning trail with no people but lots of marmots) and Jana rode the mountain bus with Baby Aplin. It's a sleepy spot in the Summer (just a restaurant with sweeping views), but we can't wait to see this place in the Winter. We hiked to Bort from here, with a lunch stop along the way at Rasthysi (adorableeee spot we will definitely return to). Meiringen HaslibergWondering where the locals go hiking? It's here. And with those views, it's no surprise why! So many trails, endless views in all directions, farms and mountain restaurants, multiple cable car lines, adventure activities, playgrounds, and alpine lakes. We spent a whole day here and still needed more time to see everything! Fall Events in SwitzerlandFall Festivals | There are a few different Fall Festivals across the country, such as the LozΓ€rner MÀÀs and Baseler Herbstmesse. They have market stalls and food booths and small festival rides as well. βThun Water Magic | See spectacular water fountains every evening in Thun through the month of October. βBern Wine Fest | We've always loved Italian and French wine, and we're just now starting to explore more Swiss wines. Maybe we can make it to this cool event this year! βRaclette World Championships | Well, this sure sounds like fun! It's a brand new event and we're sure it's going to be a popular one with the Swiss and tourists alike. βBern ZibelemΓ€rit (Onion Market) | Onion everything! From the popular braids to tarts to soups and beyond, this popular market happens every November. And it's on our calendar because I (Jana) really like onions. βWorld Cheese Awards | They're being held in Switzerland for the first time ever, temporarily making Bern the Capital of Cheese! βChristmas Markets | Some of these start as early as late-November. Stay tuned for our Swiss Christmas Market video publishing in mid-November! Wild Dinners | It's hunting season! Find a local restaurant to dine on regional meat specialities, like boar, chamois, re, and rabbit. Here's our drool-worthy meal last Autumn from Cafe 3692. (I can still remember the divine smell of homemade broth π€€) |
