Reader, isn't it nice when you take a trip back to the same destination again?

There's something familiar about the place that gives you a dose of confidence and relaxation.

We always feel that way when we're riding the train to Zermatt.

If the average hotel room in Zermatt costs 150–300 CHF per night, we've easily spent thousands of francs on hotels here!

πŸ‘‰ Tip: HotelCard has amazing deals in Zermatt! And the Monte Rosa is our favorite hotel in town.

Add in transportation tickets (with a 50% discount from the Half Fare Card, of course) and meals (since we think Zermatt has the best restaurants in the whole country).

And you'll quickly see that Zermatt tends to be one of the more expensive destinations in Switzerland.

It's not headline news that Switzerland can be expensive β€” but it doesn't have to be.

If Zermatt is part of your travel plans, you'll be happy to know that there are some incredible cheap and free things to do!

20 CHF (or less) gets you more than you think.

More than a coffee.
More than a walk through town.
More than just a good view.

Don't forget that you can find more tips in your 3-Day Guide to Zermatt!

Zermatt is a car-free village.

That means that tourists and local residents must park their car in the neighboring village of TΓ€sch, and then ride the train to Zermatt.

No cars (with the exception of e-taxis and farm vehicles) reduces pollution and helps maintain the natural beauty of this stunning valley.
